More about Debbie...
Debbie is a licensed minister who has been creatively and passionately leading Children's Ministry through: creative writing and teaching, portable campuses, building design/decor, volunteer recruiting/retention, tightening budgets without compromising quality, high quality VBS and outreach events, Special Needs Ministry, Celebrate Recovery children's programming, children's musicals, and much more. She has lead Children's Ministry in a 2000+ congregation and designed programs for small groups of children as well.
Along with her hands-on experience, Debbie has gained knowledge and insight from attending numerous Children's Ministry conferences/training events and has shadowed children's ministers at various churches including Willow Creek Community Church in Il. She stays current by attending conferences and workshops (Willow Creek, North Point, KIDMO, Group, Special Needs, motivational, and child development); reading current children's ministry material; meeting with children's ministers in both large and small churches; and of course, working with children on a regular basis in her home church. Debbie says her most effective and favorite mode of staying "kid-relevant" comes from her own children who are 12, 9, and 6 yrs old.
Those working with children in the church will enjoy meeting with Debbie because she has real concern for her fellow Children's Ministers. She has completed Stephens Ministry training, which aids her in encouraging Children's Ministers and reaching out to those who are feeling burdened due to the demands of Children's Ministry.
In addition to her experience, writing and speaking are also strengths of Debbie's. She has been published several times in Children's Ministry Magazine, written numerous VBS's, skits, and specials for Children's Ministry, and was interviewed and quoted in a feature Children's Ministry Magazine article entitled, Project Kickstart: Twelve Ways to Re-energize Weary Volunteers. Debbie has spoken for children's minister training events, church congregations, parenting groups, and children's programs.
